During the summer of 2007, I returned to Microsoft Research as a visiting researcher, where I worked in Lili Cheng’s Creative Systems research.
My primary responsibility during this time, in addition to organizing the 2007 Social Computing Symposium, was supervising the work two research interns from NYU. Together, we developed a casual game called Social Genius2, based on an earlier “Social Genius” game that one of the interns had developed at NYU.
The game, which could be played in any browser, was designed to strengthen the social bonds among employees at MSR by increasing players’ knowledge of their co-workers. The game was used successfully with the 2007 summer research interns at MSR (a group of nearly 200 graduate students), and then again with participants in the fall symposium.
A final report from this project is included with my print documentation.
